Topics: Artificial Intelligence Evolutionary Systems Massive
Computing Collective Computing
Evolutionary
algorithms and metaheuristics are widely used to provide efficient and
effective approximate solutions to computationally hard optimization problems.
Successful early applications of the evolutionary computational approach can be
found in the field of numerical optimization, while they have now become
pervasive in applications for planning, scheduling, transportation and
logistics, vehicle routing, packing problems, etc. With the widespread use of
intelligent systems in recent years, evolutionary algorithms have been applied,
beyond classical optimization problems, as components of intelligent systems
for supporting tasks and decisions in the fields of machine vision, natural
language processing, parameters optimization for neural networks (neuroevolution),
and features selection in machine learning systems. Moreover, they are also
applied in areas like complex networks dynamics, evolution and trend detection
in social networks, emergent behavior in multiagent systems and adaptive
evolutionary user interfaces, to mention a few. In these systems, the
evolutionary components are integrated in the overall architecture and they
provide services, e.g., pattern matching services, to the specific algorithmic
solutions.
The aim
of the workshop is to provide a discussion forum and to solicit
quality
papers describing systems, techniques and models for neuroevolution or managing
the inherent and emergent evolutionary dynamics eliciting collective knowledge.
Accepted
papers will appear in the ICCSA conference proceedings to be published by
Springer, Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Indexed on SCOPUS, WoS,
DBLP and other major indexes. Best papers will be invited for free or
discounted submissions to a Special Issue in MDPI Mathematics (ISSN 2227-7390).

IWCES will be located at
the 20th International
Conference on Computational Science and Applications (ICCSA 2020), held at University
of Cagliari, Cagliari, Italy on July 1-4 2020. ICCSA 2020 is the next event in
a series of highly successful International Conferences on Computational
Science and Its Applications (ICCSA), previously held in: Saint Petersburg,
Russia (2019); Melbourne, Australia (2018); Trieste, Italy (2017); Beijing,
China (2016); Banff, Canada (2015); Guimaraes, Portugal (2014); Ho Chi Minh
City, Vietnam (2013); Salvador de Bahia, Brazil (2012); Santander, Spain
(2011); Fukuoka, Japan (2010); Suwon, Korea (2009); Perugia, Italy (2008);
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2007); Glasgow, UK (2006); Singapore (2005); Assisi,
Italy (2004); Montreal, Canada (2003); and (as ICCS) in Amsterdam, The
Netherlands (2002); San Francisco, USA (2001). The first ICCSA conference
was co-organized by C.J.K. Tan (UK) and M. Gavrilova (Calgary, Canada) in
2003.
Papers must be original contributions written in English and must be submitted
through the ICCSA
Electronic Submission site (ess.iccsa.org) as:
·
Full Paper (10-16 pages)
·
Short Paper (7-9 pages)
Please upload all submissions in LNCS format. Once in the ICCSA Electronic Submission site, you will find a button to
submit a new abstract. After the form for personal info, there is bottom-right
a dropdown menu where you must select International
Workshop on Collective, Massive and Evolutionary Systems (IWCES) (IMPORTANT!).
After submitting the abstract, you should enter again to submit your paper.
To ensure high quality, submitted papers will be carefully peer-reviewed
by at least 3 PC members based on originality, significance, technical
soundness, and clarity of exposition. Papers on applications, case studies, and
data sets are welcome, as well as master/PhD thesis showcases. Each paper
must be original and unpublished work, not submitted for publication
elsewhere (copyright problems fall entirely under responsibility of the
authors).
Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that,
if the paper is accepted, at least one of the authors should register and
present orally the paper in the conference. Failure to do so shall lead
to exclusion of the paper for the proceedings.
Detailed instructions for
submission can be found in the ICCSA page of Instructions for Authors. Questions on topics of
the submission can be sent to the scientific program committee. Any
further question on technical aspects of submission, or inquiry for
technical problems can be sent to Osvaldo Gervasi. Please note that the
Electronic Submission Site has a separate login access with respect to the
registration to the conference.
IWCES 2020 proceedings will appear in the
Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series for ICCSA 2020
(indexed, among others, in Scopus).
And authors of selected papers will be invited
to participate to future events, if they like.
The 20th International Conference on Computational Science and
Applications (ICCSA 2020), including the WCES
workshop, will be held on July 1-4, 2020 in Cagliari, Italy.
Cagliari is
the largest city of Sardinia Island. In its neighborhood are located several
extraordinary beautiful beaches!
